BYU AdvertisingThis past weekend marked the local American Advertising Awards Gala, formerly known as the Addys. BYU advertising students brought home a total of ten awards from the event.

The students were awarded in a number of categories including Digital, Print, TV, Radio, and Web Video with it all culminating in great advertising, according to Scott Rackham, director of BYU’s strategic communications labs.

BYU has also produced a large number of advertising professionals in the Utah market.

“What is interesting is seeing so many BYU AdLab graduates at the award show who are now working for regional agencies and winning awards for their shops,” Rackham said.

At the end of the night, the Audience Choice award was given to BYU for the television spot titled “WD-40.”

“When they showed the ‘WD-40’ television spot in the auditorium the night of the awards, the audience responded exactly the way any advertiser could hope they would: laughter and chatter,” Rackham said. “It was no surprise at the end of the evening when the Audience Choice votes were tallied that the BYU AdLab and “WD-40″ came home with the trophy.”
